Location: Portomaso Marina, Malta
Date: November 17th Time: 7 AM – 11 AM and 1 PM – 5 PM
Donation: €10
Organizer: Mister Fish in collaboration with Portomaso Marina in aid of Puttinu Cares.
About Puttinu Cares Foundation
One of Malta’s foremost philanthropic organizations is undoubtedly the Puttinu Cares Foundation. Practically every soul locally knows who Puttinu are, and about the sterling work they do in Children’s cancer support, a service that also extends to the families. Most of the work they do is done behind closed doors and without much fanfare, as was and is the ideals of the late and beloved founder Dr.Victor Calvagna and his untiring collaborator Rennie Zerafa together with his wonderful team, ably led by Angele Cuschieri.
The families that have somehow reached for assistance from Puttinu are solid testament to the high and discreet level of support they have been given by Puttinu Cares. Here they have found a family within the family, and it is a sure fact that in one way or another we are sure to have either friends, or families that have needed and acquired the support of Puttinu, and the level of support they acquired has been second to none.
Donate and Become a Main Sponsor
Presently 60 – 90 patients from Malta travel to the UK every month. Puttinu has an ongoing project in the UK that has been working on for some time, so this is the perfect opportunity to support this cause, so all the donations during this event will go directly to them. You can also become a main sponsor of the event by donating €500.00 (for further information call 00356 9944 0150)
Registration
All fishermen taking part will participate in the competition; due to limited space, it’s on a first come first serve basis. Registration at any of our Mister Fish outlets in Iklin, Fgira or Gżira. The donation of €10 is to be paid during registration.
Additional Information
These private premises must always remain clean, so it’s important that we leave the peg area as clean as we found it.
This event is solely dedicated to Puttinu Cares so that all donations will be passed directly to them at the end of the event.
This fishing venue operates on a catch-and-release basis, so it is extremely important that each fisherman has a good-sized keepnet to ensure that all fish remain alive during the entire duration. Once the catch is weighed by our appointed marshals, the fish will be released. Each fisherman must also have a small bucket with a rope attached to it, which will help clean up their peg.
Please note that without a keepnet and bucket, one cannot participate.
Fishing techniques will be limited to pole and bottom fishing (spinning/jigging is not permitted in the marina). Only 2 hooks are permitted and also only one rod at a time can be used.
We need to appreciate that we must respect the beauty of the marina and the boats. Therefore, we should be careful when using ground bait and other bait. If anyone accidentally spills any ground bait, please inform us immediately so that we can clean it up.
If there are any hooks attached to ropes while fishing, it is very important that you inform one of our marshals so that they can remove them immediately.
The objective of this event is to raise money and help Puttinu Cares.
We would appreciate it if you could encourage your families to come over and join us for this good cause.
Please note that space is limited at the marina, so try to register as soon as possible. Registration at any of our Mister Fish outlets in Iklin, Fgira or Gżira.
We will inform participants of their fishing slots—morning or afternoon—during the press meeting (date still to be established).
At 6 AM, we will meet, and every fisherman will have their pegged spot.
Any further donations can be submitted in this manner.
We will have a press conference, and all main sponsors and fishermen will be invited to the event to open this fishing festival. This date will be published later. On this day, we will announce also the peg numbers and who will fish in the morning or afternoon. For those who cannot make it that day. please call us on 0035699440150 so we can update you accordingly.
Denci Fishing Club members will also be helping during the event.
